For an automotive company we have realized 50.000 injected anisotropic ferrite ring shaped with brass buckle. The application? Magnetic sensor for positioning and adjustment car lights.
The customer, manufacturer of car’s components, was looking for more sensor’s reading accuracy in addition to magnet’s concentricity, keeping the same dimensions.
The solution that was using was an injected isotropic ferrite with an external diameter of 11 mm, bore 6 mm e high 9 mm. Inside the magnet was inserted a plastic cylinder. This insert, during magnet rotation, was subject to deformations and cracks, with consequent risk of magnet wreckage.
As requested we have not changed the piece dimension. We focused on powders quality, realizing an anisotropic injected ferrite of grade PM16A. (Br 275-290 mT / Hcb 191-207 KA/m / Hcj 226-250 KA/m / BH (max) 16.0-16.8 KJ/M3). Definitely a better solution comparing to his previous one. 4 poles radial magnetization allows a more clear reading by headlights’ adjustment sensor.
Later we focused on the buckle: we have substitute the plastic insert with a brass cylinder. This material, more rigid comparing to plastic, has improved concentricity granting a more precise magnet rotation, avoiding the wreckage.
