A German manufacturer of sensors for the automotive industry began to collaborate with Compo Tech Co to use magnetic technology into products devices. Together with R & D department of our client we developed a samarium cobalt magnet that would satisfy the required needs. Primarily the extreme precision to ensure correct operation of the multi-touch. But also more compact and the same performance of the solutions used so far by the company. The result is the design of a tiny magnet, resistant up to 250 degrees in temperature, SM20S degree that could be welded directly on the board to create very precise magnetic contacts. This has been possible thanks to the axis of magnetization, created specifically to be perpendicular to the board ensuring the perfect matching of the multi touch output. To resist the welding, the samarium cobalt magnets are produced with a coating of nickel, copper and tin, and have a very reduced size: 2.4 x 1.5 x 2 mm. The project has passed all the tests until now, ensuring a tolerance in the magnetic axis of only 5 ° and will enter the market in 2018.
