For an automotive firm we have realized 20.000 magnetic rings in multipole anisotropic sintered ferrite. The application? Sensor for encoder.
An important manufacturer of tachograph requested us to improve the reading precision of its encoder, without increase the size.
The solution he used was an anisotropic ferrite, 16 poles axially magnetized, with an external diameter of 20 mm, bore 10 mm and high 5 mm. The result: a magnet too small and too weak to have a clear sensor reading of so many poles so close.
To sort out the problem we focused on powders quality, in this way we have kept the same magnet dimensions, without increase the size. So we have realized a ferrite ring with anisotropic quality, that means higher powders properties, and better performances comparing with the previous, reaching following magnetic features: Br 390-410 mT / Hcb 239-271 / Hcj 243-275 / BH (max) 27.1-31.2 .
Thanks to the anisotropic ferrite realized by Compo Tech Co, the final result was evident: with a 16 poles axial magnetization very clear, the encoder for tachograph has improved its reading precision’s performance, satisfying customer request.
